Thank goodness I looked beyond the Dunkin Donuts :-) Ocean City Maryland is a charming beach town with plenty of local eateries to choose from that aren't all on the boardwalk. Two of my favorites: On the Bay Seafood, Macky's Bayside and Grill. I didn't get to have breakfast/brunch at Layton's - all I wanted was coffee at a local coffee place. It was a bit difficult to find a carryout place that specialized in both eat-in breakfast and carry-out breakfast. Layton's was a treasure find in that sense. The chain restaurant equivalent of the carry-out place at Layton's would indeed be Dunkin Donuts, but slightly better quality, and, of course, local OCMD charm. After seeing the interior of the eat-in area, I feel strongly about coming back here for a sit-down breakfast/brunch meal :-)

We ate at Layton's on the off season and the breakfast is good. The chipped beef gravy was flavorful, the portion was large and you were given a choice of toast or biscuit. The fried potatoes that came with it were tasty but you had to pay extra to have onions with the potatoes. The staff was ok.

This place was great! We ate their twice while on our 5 day vacation to OC. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Very good food and cheaper than a lot of the other restaurants around our hotel. It was walking distance, never a wait, and service is friendly. Best pastries I have had in a long time too. Very good and worth a sit down!
(4)Donna F.
You gotta love a breakfast spot that feels like you're eating at a relatives house!!! The staff is friendly and the owner walks around giving samples of the fresh homemade doughnuts!! YUM. Atmosphere is cute and retro, there's even counter service if you like. We went during off season and had no problems with service or being seated right away. A total recommendation if your looking for breakfast...and don't forget to get some doughnuts to go.
(4)Stacy X.
Excellent place for breakfast!!!!! Donuts are amazing and the staff is super friendly!!! A must if your visiting!!!
(5)Melissa L.
The owner is friendly to us, deaf customers and provided free samples of donuts. It's BEST place ever to have a breakfast! You made our day.
(5)Bobby S.
We stopped in for breakfast while on vacation as we can't miss their donuts. We got our usual dozen and stayed for breakfast. This time around our meals were hot and the waitress attentive. Aside from the scrapple being over cooked on one of the sandwiches, everything was great.
(4)Michael N.
Great breakfast and service. I will eat here again when I'm back in OC.
(5)Charis M.
We ended up here by mistake and I was really glad! I had intended to go somewhere else and missed the bus stop, so we picked the first place we ran into for breakfast. The service was outstanding. The pancakes were great and the waiter kept my coffee cup full. We had a sample of the donuts and they were amazing, if I weren't so full I would've had a whole one. We'll definitely be back!
(5)Michael C.
Had a really good breakfast here on a Saturday morning. Since we came on off season place was not busy at all. It seems most people eat pretty early too that when we left at 11 place was mostly empty by then. So definitely don't have to worry about wait time if you come during winter months. I tried the crab cake benedict and really enjoyed it. The crab felt really fresh and the sauce they added on top was really nice touch that I never had before. Different from the brunch places I tried in the city. Absolutely great time eating here, I would recommend it for anyone looking for a breakfast joint while staying here since our hotel didn't provide breakfast options.

Stopped in for breakfast on a whim and it was fabulous. We plan to make Layton's an every trip tradition. We were greeted and seated right away and we were a party of eight. The waitress (Pam) was very friendly, attentive and very pleasant. I'm so glad we stopped in because the food was excellent also!
(5)Martha G.
We ordered steak n eggs, cinnamon raisin drench toast and pancakes. The steak was a palm size portion and overcooked, but wasn't rubbery. It came with eggs, toast n breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were cubed and then fried. They were ok. Pancakes were a generous size- came in threes. French toast was ok, but would probably order something else next time. Worth trying for others, but I think I may try another place next time...I really don't know how much better you can get in Ocean City, but hey it's worth a try...lol
(2)Jude T.
The food is decent enough, and the service (when I've gone) is good. It's a good place to go as a family (lots of things for picky kids), but if you don't have any picky children, stay away... It's really overpriced (like many things in Ocean City) for the food quality. The crab quesadilla is a winner, though.

My husband and I were here this morning for breakfast. Yes, everything you and I have read about the place is true. Good food, good service and owner who doles out donut samples! What could be better? Well, my husband had an $10.99 omelette ( I went the waffle route) and when the bill came there was a $1.00 "egg charge"! Have to admit, something we had never heard of and at the counter we asked about it. Seems with the growing problem of bird flu, the expense of eggs has risen and this is how he is making up for it. Sorry, I have a problem with that. First, as you may have noticed about that omelette was almost 11 bucks. Far from cheap. (Now I am being the devils advocate and making a lot of "examples".) This is a pretty busy breakfast place and probably serves hundreds of eggs a day. But for the the purpose of my example here, I will suppose he serves 500 egg dishes a day and adds a $1.00 surcharge to each serving. That is a cool $500.00 a day and at the end of a week it is $3500.00 times that by 52 weeks and you are talking $182,000 a year! On Eggs! I realize that some weeks will be better than others but that is a lot of money for cracked shells! Ok, perhaps I over estimated and he makes $100 per day. That is still $700.00 a week times 52 weeks and $36,400 a year. Since the restaurant is on the Delmarva peninsula, home of many a Chicken farm, the owner should consider buying a farm! If that doesn't work, just raise your prices and let your customers deal with it upfront. As for my husband and me, we won't be back. Just don't like being ripped off.
(3)Melody D.
We only stopped in for the donuts which are FANTASTIC. My husband isn't a fan of fractured prune so we thought we would give this place a try. WAY better than FP. Only 4 stars because they lack in customer service. The employees aren't very friendly.
(4)John D.
This is our traditional leaving Ocean City breakfast spot. all the food is excellent. my pancakes and sausage top notch, Margi loved her Western Eggs, the deep fried home fries, unusual but really tasty, and the pastries and donuts are just fantastic (we got a couple of sticky buns and donuts for home). Morgan our server was great and was of great assistance getting the togo stuff together.
(5)Maja-Monique J.
Loved, loved their food! Great atmosphere! Great service- and they have an amazing selection of different types of donuts! Yummy!
(5)Patricia B.
Delicious eggs and donuts.
(4)Kara W.
Good breakfast, good donuts.
(4)Andrea T.
We should have come here instead of Little House of Pancakes. Great place. Open year round. However, same complaint of a lot of places in Ocean City Maryland. Heat? ever heard of it? Wawa was toasty. Our hotel was toasty, but restaurants not so much. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was perfect, but would have been even better if they delivered our food right away and did not let it get glacial. We were hungry and ready to head back to civilization so we ate cold food. Mom had a waffle again and again said it would have been awesome if it was warm! The donuts, which they are famous for looked awesome, did not try any because heartburn and a three hour car ride are not my idea of fun.
(3)Hera I.
We come here for breakfast every time we go to OC. Service is always terrific and food is awesome!
(5)Cat W.
Hands down one of the most beautifully decorated restaurants in oc. Ocean themed murals and mosaic tiling you have to see to believe. My toddler had plenty to look and point at. We were there pretty early and did not have to wait to be seated, but by the time we left there was a long line of hungry people. Fresh pastries were on display and looked delicious. Menu included the usual diner fare-waffles, pancakes, grits, oatmeal, omlettes. My waffle, egg, and sausage tasted like what you'd expect without surprises. Server was attentive. Decor puts this place over the top. So glad to have stumbled upon it and judging by the crowd that turned up while we ate, there's plenty of other people that feel the same.
(5)Don B.
Wonderful service. Everything you should expect for breakfast. Huge Donuts.
(5)Maria S.
We came to this restaurant at around 2 and they still served breakfast which was fantastic! I really liked the atmosphere of this place. The decor was amazing. There were murals of the sea made of tiles. The owner went around introducing himself and he gave out free donut samples! I got the breakfast burrito and it was delicious. The bacon that my boyfriend got was perfectly cooked and so were the eggs. Perfect place to go for breakfast/lunch.
(4)Kevin S.
Let me start by saying I am not a breakfast person and I had very little expectations when we came here. However the food was pretty good everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and it's pretty cheap.
(4)Anie S.
My friends and I came here for brunch during vacation, and the food was delicious, although none of us had any donuts which is what this place is famous for. However, the service for us was awful. Our waitress seemed to want to get us out as soon as possible. On top of that, our food took way too long especially considering the place wasn't crowded while we were there. Overall, a fun place that I would revisit in the future.
(4)Honest A.
It's a standard east coast breakfast diner. They serve breakfast, lunch. But, people know them for the donuts. So the eggs are not the best, but they make eggs well done, not over well...very different. They have no specialty coffees, but I think this would greatly add to their revenues. The machines are so affordable now and the latte, cappuccino, are needed in any breakfast place serving donuts. I couldn't get a latte and that just ruined breakfast, so they got 3 stars. The donut was too good for me, I felt guilty eating the delight. It was truly a 5 star donut.

Holy hell. We've been totally ripped off by Ocean City breakfast spots before (coughcoughBaysideSkilletcoughcoughHALLScoughhack)Â, but Layton's 16th is absolutely the real thing. This is the best breakfast spot in OC, hands down. There's going to be a hellish wait, and you're probably pulling up in the car right now looking at the line and shaking your head going "hell no". Trust me - park your car. You'll thank me later. The husband and I had a 20 minute wait, and only got a spot that quickly because we were willing to eat at the counter. We sat down and were greeted by some of the friendliest, happiest personnel I ever saw. Our server was so upbeat and cheerful - she really wanted to be there and was having a good old time, and it was infectious - we happily ordered coffee, a breakfast bowl for me with an extra cup of chipped beef, and some insanely sugary pancake concoction with strawberry syrup for the husband. We didn't have long to wait. The food arrived inside of 10 minutes - let me tell you what, this place may be packed to the gills, but they know exactly what they're doing. The breakfast bowl (eggs with ham, bacon and sausage) was perfectly done - the chipped beef was really good, thick and creamy without being overpowering. But the husband's pancakes!!!! Let me tell you, if I wasn't a diabetic, my fat butt would have so been all over that. They didn't come out with the strawberry sauce on top, but IN A SEPARATE BOWL. With the whipped cream and all. Wow - just wow. Even our temporary-neighbors-in-food next to us were remarking upon how good it all looked. Certainly, the husband was more than appreciative! And... if this weren't enough - I have finally found a place in Ocean City where the coffee is actually DECENT other than a 7-11. No lie. It wasn't the best coffee on the planet, but for Ocean City, this was the equivalent of being made by the best barista in the country. Thank God for that! We purchased some doughnuts on the way out - after all, this is what Layton's is famous for, so they say. And so they should be - they were delicious later on. It made me regret that I could only have one bite. Layton's on 16th will definitely be in our repertoire next year. Still don't want to stand in that line? That's okay - we'll be in there and enjoying it that much faster. Tip for Diabetics: Order here as you would make items at home. The breakfast bowl is safe and it tastes great. If you feel a little carb spendy, definitely try a doughnut - the little bit I had was AWESOME. Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor. YMMV. Seek medical advice and tailor my review to your situation. I simply provide opinion.

Been coming here for breakfast for 3 years. Anytime we're in town Layton's is a must visit. There is usually no wait time but if there is its very minimal 4-15 min. We don't have anything bad to say about this place. we had one of the owners serve us! They take pride in what they do. The breakfast is amazing we tend to get the eye opener or the pancake specials. Always get a 1/2 dozen donuts for the road. They are so worth the calories!
(5)Mahoganie B.
Actually came here on the suggestion of a member of the wait staff of another restaurant. The original place I was trying to get to was understaffed and couldn't handle the crowd so the person told me to try Layton's. So glad I did! A good diner for breakfast!!!!! I love the REAL.. actually factual SCRAPPLE! I loved the breakfast wrap I ordered, but next time I'm gonna try it with a sauce or something. That's all that was missing from it. My kid and friend looooooved the pancakes and my kid is sort of a picky eater. She ate EVERYTHING! Actually as I looked around, everyone pretty much scrapped their plate! There were hardly any spared scraps anywhere. Each time I've gone, I've only done the breakfast menu, so I'm not sure what the lunch/dinner choices tastes like! The wait staff is very courteous and prompt. I did notice that Layton's is suppose to be known for their donuts. I was gonna try one, but was too full, so opted not to. This seems like the perfect greasy spoon after a night of partying in the OC.. for those that do.

This place was a really good place to go for breakfast or doughnuts. Service was excellent the waitress was so nice and made us feel at home. We were seated very quick and food was quick also to come out. This is my first time going to Layton's and I will deff be coming back and recommending this to everyone going to OC. Loved the food and the restaurant.

Living in Philly and having access to brunch spots like Green Eggs, Cafe Lift, Sabrina's, etc. has really clouded my judgment when it comes to breakfast. Once you've experienced Challah French Toast, regular French toast is no comparison. I say all of that to say, Layton's is a good breakfast spot in Ocean City in comparison to many other breakfast spots on the little island. The pancakes and French toast are delicious. Our waitress was a little slow. It took nearly 30 minutes for our plates to come out, which to me is too long when we're talking about breakfast food. Overall, Layton's is okay, but its nothing to go crazy over. Also, I should add that the line gets pretty long depending on what time you go. We went around 11:00am and only had to wait five minutes.
(3)Charles G.
Stopped by for breakfast before teeing off, they have the best homemade donuts I have had in my life.
(5)Anna Y.
My boyfriend and I stopped here on New Year's Day before going back home to Pa. It's such a cute little place! A little old fashioned but it has that family business feel to it which was nice. I had a vegetable omelette, it was great! The servers were also lovely as well, really nice and attentive. Oh and get a doughnut or a cinnamon roll on your way out!
(4)Sam H.
Very slow staff, and prices seem cheap until you get a very tiny portion, and no one came around to refill drinks. Breakfast wrap was boring and flavorless...watery eggs, hard and processed-tasting cheese, and frozen sausage patties cut up and thrown in. And that's all you got for $6.50! Paid the extra $2 for the "home fries" (frozen tasting, unseasoned, flavorless potato cubes). Generally clean and family oriented, but mediocre at best.

I got food poisoning two times when I attended this restaurant I will never attend again it was such a shame because the eggs are so good

Love the moms kitchen feeling of Layton's. I have only went here for breakfast, and typically during the off season. Why? Because it's kinda a tourist attraction during peak months. Then again, it's hard to get breakfast anywhere in OC. Anyways, Layton's is a home style quick breakfast that's very affordable.

I have come to Laytons since my father would bring me there for breakfast and a donut when I was 6 years old. Fast forward 24 years and now my wife and I go. In all those years this place has retained consistently good food at exceptional prices and the best donuts in the world. Seating is always quick and the service is always friendly. If you do need to wait for a seat, the wait time tends to be no longer then 10-15 minutes, and the owner frequently walks around handing out donut samples to make your mouth water. This is a diner style restaurant (translation - dont expect 40 dollar gourmet meals or overpriced starbucks style drinks). The food stands on its own. On my most recent visit I had the scrapple and egg omelet with home fried potatoes and biscuit. Everything was delicious. The omelet is exceptional in size and taste. The potatoes are served plain with your choice to add salt, pepper and/or ketchup as you please. This is a welcome change from most places that tend to over salt potatoes. My wife ordered a croissant sausage and egg sandwich with the potatoes. The croissant sandwich was very large and my wife could not even finish it. Her remark was that it was delicious and a great value. A visit to Laytons is not complete without a donut. I ordered a vanilla frosted donut with sprinkles. My wife was too full to treat herself to a donut but felt no qualms about helping herself to mine. The donuts are out of this world and worth a visit if not just to get a donut and coffee. Before leaving our ocean getaway, I made sure to return to Laytons for a box of donuts to take home. When the check came My wife and I expressed disbelief at the check as it was was far outweighed by the quality and quantity of food we received. Laytons offers a great family diner style atmosphere with excellent prices. it is a great place to have a delicious breakfast (or lunch and maybe dinner) that wont hurt your wallet. For me, this place is a must visit on a trip to my adopted home town.
(5)Kristofor N.
Very good place to eat. If there is a line and your only two people sit at the counter. The plates could be bigger it is breakfast. Wait service is great. Coffee is good and hot. Price is also very good. There is no whole milk. It seems all the places around here only use the half and half creamers. Overall it's a good breakfast spot who gets you in and gets you out so you can enjoy your day. Must try the donut. Treat yourself.
(4)Kim B.
The owner personally came over to our table as soon as we sat and brought us a donut to try......and it was delicious! Great atmosphere and everyone was nice! Highly recommend!

While visiting OC on vacation I decided to do a yelp search to find a good place for breakfast. We decided on Layton's. Upon arriving at 10ish there was a 10 minute wait, pretty good for a late breakfast. We were seated and I ordered coffee and the Neptune Benedict, a variation of Eggs Benedict switching out ham for a crab cake. The coffee arrived less hot than I would have liked but it was a good mellow tasting coffee ,so dealt with it. The food arrived and I had mixed feelings. The potatoes were unseasoned and boring along with the fact that they didn't give you very many. The Neptune was pretty good with a light seasoning of Old Bay on the top. My only complaint was that the crab cakes were too small. Service wise the place is pretty great. My coffee cup rarely went empty and around the third cup the coffee became hot again. The owners walk around with donut samples. I accidentally grabbed a raspberry jelly, which I'm usually not a fan of but it ewe delicious. We ordered a box to go home. All and all I would probably come back.

Before leaving the city to continue our trip, we wanted to have some good breakfast and we stopped at Layton's because the long line of people waiting was indeed a good sign (lesson learnt from the night before in another restaurant). We had to wait just 10 minutes and we were served at the bar. It was indeed a good experience. The menu offered a big choice (making the choice even more difficult!) and the food was very tasty. The waitress was nice and took care of us. We spent around 17$ per person including tip, but my veggie burrito was delicious! Gnammy.
(4)Rebecca S.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Layton's. We went for breakfast around 9:30 on a Sunday morning. Had to wait 20 minutes, but we figured that was a good sign. It's typical diner food, but well-made, tasty, and very quick service especially considering how busy it was. Their homemade donuts are amazing and they even had the chef come around to give out free samples! Great marketing tactic for the donuts ;-) Coffee was drinkable and hot. Our waitress, Pam, was wonderful. Very attentive, sweet, and helpful. Overall a great experience!

My husband and I do not usually go out for breakfast because we have been ripped off in the past. We are spending the weekend in Ocean City and we had to eat breakfast from somewhere and so we ended up going to Layton's. Overall we were very pleased with the food, the service and the prices. I had a classic breakfast meal with two eggs, potatoes, turkey sausage and toast. The food came out quickly and was well made. My husband had the breakfast wrap with scrapple and cheese which was huge. He really liked the wrap a lot. While we were waiting for our food to come out the owner was walking around giving out samples of his homemade doughnuts. They were totally awesome. I would definitely recommend Layton's if you are in the Ocean City area and you are looking for somewhere to get some good breakfast for a good price.

On a short vacation this summer, Layton's on 16th was my and my friend's go-to breakfast joint. If you want crab cakes on your eggs benedict, this is the place. If you don't eat meat and just want eggs benedict, you can go too, haha. If you sleep in after a late night of partying and go out for breakfast at 1pm like we did, the place is not so loud. If you're hungover and miraculously awake at 8am, I'd hold off until noon to venture out into the noise.
(4)Anthony S.
I have been coming to Laytons since I was a kid (for nearly 20 years). Me and my family decided to take a trip to Ocean City and follow the same traditions as when we use to growing up. What a mistake that was. The food was HORRIBLE. I got the crab Benedict, my wife got a breakfast burrito, my mom got the steak and eggs. The crab Benedict literally had a quarter sized dollop of crab cake on the right English muffin and maybe twice that on the left. My wife's burrito, although huge, was only filled in the center and she had to cut off two inches of ends on both sides (don't you know how to wrap a burrito?). My moms steak was drenched in black pepper and was flank or skirt steak, not the strip they said it was. The Orange juice was also VERY watered down. I am very disappointed that this great family restaurant has followed the trend of Phillips and worrying more about quantity than quality.
(1)Owen G.
My brother and I went to Layton's around noon on a Tuesday. The restaurant wasn't busy at all as we waited behind one person at the bakery counter. We both got a doughnut which were excellent. We then waited near the hostess where a sign asked that patrons wait to be seated. We stood there for 15 minutes before walking out as no one ever came to seat us.
(2)Fallon P.
Stopped by for breakfast multiple times just week and the food is always consistently good. There is usually a wait in the morning but it goes pretty fast. We've never had a great waitress, but always good enough to get the food out. The owner however, is awesome! He always brings samples of donuts (which are amazing) around the restaurant and to the waiting area.
(4)Emily H.
The owner of this restaurant is very friendly. He walked around in the restaurant and served donuts for free. He came to our table three times with different kind of donuts: glazed plain, cinnamon, and apples. The last one he just left the plate of apple donuts for us (free). He was very welcoming his customers! Food were very good--I am impressed with this place!
(5)Jessica B.
The food was very good and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff was friendly. I had the egg stuffed croissant and it really good. Pancakes were also very good. Staff walked around with samples of donuts which were sooooo good. Food was little pricey but when you're on vacation you expect to pay a little more.
(4)Kris L.
A good family diner with friendly service. A good place to come on a budget and no headache (we had no wait in August, for lunch). Highlights: I enjoyed the crabcake omelette. Small in size, got it with potatoes (a bit too oily and dry for me). It also came with a biscuit mmmmmm hmmmmm! The only gripe is that an up charge of $1.79 is the highest I've ever seen for getting egg whites! (Including in LA and NYC) My hubz had the eye opener breakfast (eggs, toast, potatoes, and bacon) for $8.99 which he liked very much but those are really not items that can stand out a diner. Will be back for a quick friendly drama free brunch
(3)Nick M.
Really nice mom and pop diner. Offered up fresh made sample doughnuts as soon as we sat down, which were very good. Entrées are what you'd expect from a diner. Breakfast served all the time. Would recommend.
(4)Katie G.
Came here on a busy Saturday morning, we had great service from Briana. The owner, Layton actually walked through the restaurant offering samples of their house made mouthwatering warm pastries throughout our entire meal. My coconut banana pancakes were incredible, my fiance loved his biscuits and gravy. Highly recommended, a must stop in ocean city!
(5)Heather D.
I've been here probably a dozen times, and I'm never disappointed with breakfast. I think that service has improved as well, because the staff seems friendlier. I love the croissants and turkey sausage. My kids love the coconut banana or chocolate chip pancakes, as well as the kid's silver dollar pancake platter. The orange juice is fresh and cold and refreshing, and the coffee is perfect. These people KNOW BREAKFAST! I've been brave and tried some neat things here: chocolate bacon doughnuts, PBJ doughnuts and most recently a S'mores doughnut. Outstanding! It gets crowded so use some sense and plan ahead. I'd recommend coming for breakfast nice and early to get a seat, especially if you're a party of 4 or more.

I've been to Ocean city a lot through out my life. We are always looking for donuts where ever we go. I always forget Layton's has donuts. We decided to finally give them a try, and were surprised how good the donuts were. The selection is small, but what they do have is really good. My favorite was the chocolate peanut. There is just no other place in ocean city to get good old fashion donuts like the ones from Layton's.

We came as a big group (3 adults 6 kids ) for a brunch during 4th of July weekend. Although we had to wait 45 min to sit, once we sat down, the service was wonderful. Sample donughts were warm and delicious. Food wasn't the cheapest, but it was really decent and portions were rather large. We even get to meet with the owners, who were also delightful people. If you are in OC I would recommend highly to make time to stop by.

This place has a real cozy, "homy" vibe to it. It kind of feels like someone's home and you can tell it's family owned. My husband and I had the Nor'easter for breakfast which is basically the kitchen sink of breakfast foods. Eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and peppers (maybe onions, too), topped with cheese. Yummy! My husband loved it as well. He usually drowns his eggs in ketchup, but surprisingly not this time. The coffee was also excellent. They have a huge selection of baked goods too. We didn't indulge because we were too full. Other yelpers say their donuts are the real deal. I wish we had gotten some to go :(

Literally as I was sitting here reading reviews about this place the owner came over and offered me a sample donut. It was delicious & warm, not overly sweet. So I decided to write a review cus that was pretty cool. The french toast was good as well as the bacon, get them well done though. The only thing I don't care for is the staff's service. I've been here several times, I'm a server elsewhere in ocean city, and here is never satisfactory. The servers are unattentive & unwilling everytime. Normally I don't mind cause I can see they're busy, today they weren't. When I asked the girl who brought my food for some more water & syrup she sighed & said to ask my waiter. She did bring the syrup tho. My waiter didn't come check on me till about ten mins later. Brought me a refill & that was the only time I saw him other than when he greeted me & gave me the check. Proof that a bad experience resonates more than good food. The owner's great tho.

Went here for breakfast and I would definitely recommend to everybody! The employees are super nice and they also pack the plate with bacon rather than a few pieces like most places. I would definitely say you get a bang for your buck. I got pancakes which were extremely buttery and fluffy with a strawberry topping. I also got grapefruit which was extreeeemely bitter and unfortunately not freshly squeezed (none of the juices are btw). Next time though, I want to try their donuts. If the place was a little more roomy, it would be perfect. But the food was cooked perfectly - I can't really complain.
(5)Victoria L.
We passed by this place as we were getting...mhmm...alcohol from next door. I went home, checked it out on yelp and knew I wanted to try it from all the good reviews. My family and I went the next day. We were told a 10 minute wait which became a 2 minute wait instead. Our waiter acknowledged and greeted us right away. The menu is plain and simple with omelettes, pancakes, french toast, and sandwiches for lunch. Everything looked delicious and it was so hard to decide what I wanted. I decided on the sweet potato pancakes with honey butter and pecans. I can't even tell you how good they were. It was light and fluffy with the delicious honey butter all over. This is a must try, especially if you like sweet potatoes. The portion was huge, even the bacon for everyone's meal was like 7 or 8 pieces of bacon not the regular 3 or 4 pieces. Perfectly crispy bacon! We also tried the corned beef hash, it was very good and not too salty at all. Everyone enjoyed their food and thought it was delicious. Even the orange juice tasted fresh. Prices are affordable with big portions and service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we were happy. Unfortunately we didn't get the donut sample like everyone else but maybe next time. I heard they were really good!
(5)Nikki C.
Yummy breakfast place! Gets kind of crowded but the wait isn't long, about 5-15 mins. Parking is a pain though. We had to park along the street behind place. Walked in and was greeted, we sat down and ordered our drinks. Coffee and chocolate milk( good). I had pancakes, home fries, and toast. My boyfriend had steak and eggs. Both dishes were really good and inexpensive. My pancakes came out warm and fluffy. Service was prompt and we had a friendly waitress! The place is clean and the manager or owner comes around and offers complimentary homemade donuts:)
(4)Elle C.
The food was ok, but definitely nothing great. We had big expectations for this place to live up to the reviews and it just fell short on every count. Our server was just awful, there's no two ways about it. I don't know if she was new or just didn't care, but she was so inattentive we actually had to ask a different server for refills and creamers for coffee - and that was after waiting a good 15 minutes for our server to even look at us. Our table got: - a chicken salad - biscuits and gravy - sausage and cheese omelette - crab cake - scrambled eggs - bacon cheeseburger The sausage gravy and biscuits were just plain bad. The gravy wasn't good and the biscuits were so dry the fell apart into little crumbs as soon as I bit them. Yuck! The omelette was good and the crab cake was ok, but very dry. The best plate on the table was the bacon cheeseburger. He also got old bay cheddar fries with them and the fries were out of this world. Hands down the best fries we had in ocmd! I was disappointed in most of the experience and won't be going back.
(2)Cody B.
Service was quick and nice, but they won't split checks for a party of people. So figuring how much you owe with a group of friends is kind of a pain.
(3)John D.
(5)M M.
I can't believe all these great reviews. Our food, for a party of four, took a half an hour to 40 minutes. And this was quick breakfast food. Two people in our party got their meals a full 10 minutes, maybe more, before the other two. My order was wrong, and the waitress argued with me about it. I talked to the manager/owner, who was unapologetic and rude, like I had no right to bring these details to his attention. I was stunned. I've never been treated that way before at a restaurant.
(1)Cat W.
(5)A. C.
(06/26/2012) Average family diner serving since 1959. Prices are reasonable, plates are plentiful. The Neptune Benedict came with fried eggs, slightly runny, instead of poached, a thin rather bland sauce, crispy deep-fried home fries. The Hollandaise was tasty enough, but there was not enough on the muffins and it was rather thin. It was the special of the night and you got a small drink and your choice of a homemade doughnut with that. The Old Bay Cheese fries were crispy, hot, well-seasoned with plenty of Old Bay; cheddar was melted shreds. Burger was an average frozen, machine-formed patty (no, they don't ask you how you want that burger). The doughnuts were extra sweet, the yeast-style with Bavarian cream was fluffy and tender, the cream was like pudding; the Oreo was over-the-top sweet baked doughnut with a sugary, shortening-based frosting crusted in Oreo crumbs. Place was not full (and yet not quiet, a few other families with screaming, food-throwing kids); and service was pretty attentive, place was clean.
(3)Mike D.
We frequent Laytons every spring when we're in town for a golf weekend. Simple fare but always fresh and tasty. The service is pleasant and the restaurant is clean and convenient. We've been coming here for years and haven't had a bad meal yet.
(4)Jun C.
Polite staff. Great food. Excellent atmosphere.
(4)Jenifer M.
We came here for breakfast on our last day of vacation, and it was the first good breakfast I had all week! The place itself is cute- there is lots of "old-fashioned" paraphernalia and there is a large train set that would be fun for kids. I ordered creamed chipped beef over biscuits and it was delicious- not too salty, not too buttery. I also had a side of scrapple- the scrapple was just "ok" but being a Philly native, I've had plenty of scrapple to compare it to. Service was fast and pleasant... we will definitely come back next year!
(4)Carly C.
The service was great as were the donuts but I don't think it'll be enough to bring me back. Their bathroom was dirty and the food wasn't even average. My cornbeef hash arrived at the table barely warm and the eggs were greasy.
(2)Fernando F.
We have been vacationing in Ocean City MD for many years. In all those years we always seem to go here at least once. And, unfortunately it never gets better. We tried one more time and it was very bad. We ordered egg beaters, you know, trying be healthy and all. They were horrid. I told the server they were bad and they told me "well, they are egg beaters." They swapped out the egg beaters for real eggs and then some bad service. Oh an they left the charge for the egg beaters. Nice. The cheese they used for my wife's omelette tasted horrible. She couldn't finish it. The scrapple was dry and old. Oh and the server never came back to ask us for more coffee. The only saving grace, the pancakes were really good. We didn't get any donuts or pastries but we have before. They are good. Skip this place for breakfast.
(1)Jon M.
best breakfast restaurant in OC. coffee could be stronger but the food blows this place out of the water. corn beef hash is a must have. great food, great prices.
(5)Jim H.
went for lunch and breakfast and every meal was excellent waitstaff was wonderful and the longest wait was 10 mins.

I can't go to Ocean City and not visit Layton's for a donut and/or breakfast...... at the very least, a donut every morning! Great selection of fresh made donuts to choose from, and great diner style breakfasts are what you'll find at Layton's.... a visit to Ocean City is not complete without visiting Layton's at least once per morning!
(5)David M.
This place is a great place to get a bit of local flavor in OC. Their breakfast food (especially the scrapple) are great, but even better are the fresh made donuts! Yikes, these things are awesome! I also really like the fact that they have big bowls of different flavor coffee creamers for you to help yourself from. Mmmmm, hazelnut.
(5)Jenn S.

WORST place I have ever been to. Horrible service and food wasn't good.. Had 4 people ordered simple meals like a Blt, egg sandwich, crab cake .. Took over 40 minutes to get our food and watched people come in after us and get their food before us. The waitress was terrible.. Never checked our drinks for refills and gave us warm water with no ice. She also decided to add gratuity for herself on the check (10$) . Worst experience I have ever had never going back there ever again , I highly don't recommend this place

The food was very good and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff was friendly. I had the egg stuffed croissant and it really good. Pancakes were also very good. Staff walked around with samples of donuts which were sooooo good. Food was little pricey but when you're on vacation you expect to pay a little more.

I wish we had gotten some to go :(
(3)Donna F.

Gnammy.

We only stopped in for the donuts which are FANTASTIC. My husband isn't a fan of fractured prune so we thought we would give this place a try. WAY better than FP. Only 4 stars because they lack in customer service. The employees aren't very friendly.

(3)Heather R.

(5)Sam H.

(2)Dakota R.

I got food poisoning two times when I attended this restaurant I will never attend again it was such a shame because the eggs are so good

We frequent Laytons every spring when we're in town for a golf weekend. Simple fare but always fresh and tasty. The service is pleasant and the restaurant is clean and convenient. We've been coming here for years and haven't had a bad meal yet.

(2)Elle C.
(3)John D.
Yummy!
(5)Andrea T.

We come here for breakfast every time we go to OC. Service is always terrific and food is awesome!

The food was very good and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff was friendly. I had the egg stuffed croissant and it really good. Pancakes were also very good. Staff walked around with samples of donuts which were sooooo good. Food was little pricey but when you're on vacation you expect to pay a little more.

(3)Luna M.

(5)Emily H.
(4)Ann F.
(5)Kristin S.
(5)Kim B.
The owner personally came over to our table as soon as we sat and brought us a donut to try......and it was delicious! Great atmosphere and everyone was nice! Highly recommend!
(5)Nick M.
(5)Ava W.

We stopped in for breakfast while on vacation as we can't miss their donuts. We got our usual dozen and stayed for breakfast. This time around our meals were hot and the waitress attentive. Aside from the scrapple being over cooked on one of the sandwiches, everything was great.

Great breakfast and service. I will eat here again when I'm back in OC.

Gnammy.

We only stopped in for the donuts which are FANTASTIC. My husband isn't a fan of fractured prune so we thought we would give this place a try. WAY better than FP. Only 4 stars because they lack in customer service. The employees aren't very friendly.
(4)Maria S.
(4)Kara W.
Good breakfast, good donuts.

Stopped by for breakfast before teeing off, they have the best homemade donuts I have had in my life.

(4)Carly C.
The service was great as were the donuts but I don't think it'll be enough to bring me back. Their bathroom was dirty and the food wasn't even average. My cornbeef hash arrived at the table barely warm and the eggs were greasy.

(4)Tabitha S.
(4)Jenn S.

Skip this place for breakfast.

best breakfast restaurant in OC. coffee could be stronger but the food blows this place out of the water. corn beef hash is a must have. great food, great prices.
(5)Jim H.
went for lunch and breakfast and every meal was excellent waitstaff was wonderful and the longest wait was 10 mins.
(5)William F.
